AI with his head in the Cloud

I just watched a TED talk describing a new game coming out for Microsoft Kinect, a video game system that responds to your body, and it looks awesome. Not only is this little AI boy named Milo based in the cloud, subject to evolving intelligence, but his connection with humanity--namely his 'matching' non-verbal behavior--is based on the principles of Neuro-Linguistic Programing. I feel like this is a win for the entire world.

Creation is Construction

You probably realize that humanity is face to face with the last great obstruction to the future: copyrights and patents.

It's true. If it was ever possible to pretend that thought, idea, and progress could belong specifically to one person and not to the universe which gave rise to the unique circumstances of genetics, culture, art, technology, and belief that caused the automaton, said 'person', to create the "new" idea, that time was over in 1984, when the very first domain name was registered and the internet, as we know it, was born.

There is currently one clear delineation between theft and fair use, and I'm not talking about the laws of man, but the laws of nature. The difference is simple: if something can be downloaded, it's knowledge and therefore belongs to all living things in all dimensions, bar none; if you can't download something, then it's a valid product, and should not be stolen or duplicated, for fear of injustice.

Here's a great video and a website, QuestionCopyright.org, that talks in great depth about stuff that you probably already understand as true or will come to in not so long.

Computer-Generated Species, Seriously!

The big news this week is likely to continue to be big news for the next hundred years. A Maryland-based research institute, Synthetic Geonomics, has recently, not only generated DNA using a computer, but has also been able to transform a cell, using that DNA, into an entirely new organism.

Free Google Wave Invites

Google says that "Google Wave is a new web application for real-time communication and collaboration." The truth is, Wave is much cooler than that and it will probably replace e-mail in the coming years. Currently, it's in beta (like most everything good in google) and the only way in is through invite.

Right now, I've got 22 google wave invites that I'm ready and willing to give away. So how's about a little contest?

This is for all those out there who tag your mp3's with 'disc #' and 'total discs' metadata. And this is for all of those who, like me, choose to take the high road and leave that metadata out. And this is for all of you who don't yet care or didn't yet realize we're in a period of great turmoil.

Chicken Little
Just install Flash and have more fun.

I had an idea that I might make a hip-hop album someday (and I still might), but this song was really the best of all my work in that direction. Chicken Little is my hope for a future, though in retrospect, the tempo-sliding on this demo is a little bit over the edge. What do you think?
