This is a little song I wrote when I was sixteen, walking through Italy's catacombs, wondering about the world. It's as short as it's name, and hopefully as sweet. By the time you hear the final album version, it'll sound completely different--but that's one of the joys of getting to hear it both ways.

On a tour bus through the halls of the dead,
the tour guide couldn't help but to point out how
the further back that we drove ahead,
smaller did the dead bodies grow.
"Oh, wow!"

I wonder how they could be so small.
Even though it's hard to see, they're getting better, day by day.
Yeah, I wonder how they could be so small.
Every day, we grow a pinch. We're getting better, inch by inch.

Back then it must have been very nice. In paradise, no less.
Too short to see past cornfields, temples, and price,
behind which stood their scruples erect,
which none could see 'till recently. Some still haven't.

Yeah, I wonder how they could be so small.
Even though it's hard to see, they're getting better, day by day.
Yeah, I wonder how they could be so small.
Every day, we grow a pinch. We're getting better, inch by inch.

Well maybe it's not in their size. Then where is it?
Maybe it's buried deep in their lies.
Maybe it's not in their lies.
Then where is it?
Maybe it's somewhere in the deep recesses of their minds.

And how they could be so small.
Even though it's hard to see, they're getting better, day by day.
Yeah, I wonder how they could be so small.
Every day, we grow a pinch. We're getting better, inch by inch.

So Small...
Got to admit, they seem so small.
So Small.

So say we all.

So Small...
Got to admit, we're also small.
So Small.

All growing tall.
